Troubleshooting: Epic’s Proxy (VPN) not working?
Are you having problems with Epic’s encrypted proxy (VPN)? Is Epic’s proxy not working or is the icon not showing up? Here are some tips to try.
Remember that Epic’s encrypted proxy is controlled by a red or green plug icon at the top right of Epic. You can turn the proxy on or off or change your country by clicking on that icon.
If you don’t see the proxy icon, then go to Epic’s Settings or Preferences Page. At the bottom of the page, click on “Reset Epic”. Then close and re-open Epic. That may bring back the proxy icon for you.
If pages aren’t loading or the proxy is very slow, it may be that the server you’re connected to is down or overloaded. Try changing your proxy country or try closing and re-opening Epic to connect to a different server.
If a particular page isn’t loading or is very slow, try turning the proxy off. It may be that that website blocks access via a VPN or proxy. Unfortunately more and more websites are blocking proxy access.
If you’re connected to a country, but a website says that you’re not in that country, please try closing then re-opening Epic to connect to a different server for that country. Then visit that website again. There are at least four major databases which map IP addresses to countries. They don’t always agree.
One IP address for a server may map to the UK in three databases, for example, with a fourth database mapping it to a different country.
For the highest level of privacy, use Epic with the encrypted proxy on as much as possible. We’re regularly adding more servers (Epic uses hundreds already) to keep the encrypted proxy fast for users all over the world. Please let us know if a particular country or server is persistently slow or if you have other issues. We’ll investigate.
Getting shut out of BBC Iplayer. will not play shows. cycled through the IP address using epic VPN get the same message
BBC iPlayer only works in the UK. Sorry, it’s due to rights issues. In the UK? Here’s some advice.
Please Advise in the past cycling through the epic vpn and rebooting solved the problem. Not any more
WHY NO FAILOVER?
I have seen Epic’s VPN fail more than once as I am browsing.
There is a very quiet notification that a ‘filter has failed’ (not obvious it’s the VPN), the vpn icon vanishes (does not flash or anything)
There appears to be NO failover
Presumably this means that my browsing was exposed and recorded by powers-that-be, until I happened to notice.
This is NOT secure.
Is there a way to make the connection FAIL ENTIRELY when the Epic ‘VPN’ crashes?
This might keep users more safe.

Epic looks different now than what I have been used to. The encrypted proxy button no longer shows and all the searches appear to be through yahoo! what is going on?
For reasons unknown, Epic was unable to do a deal with Google but they were able to incorporate Yahoo. It’s been yahoo search for years (Now july 2024)

Hi, in the latest Epic, the encrypted proxy and the adblock functionality are user-controlled. To install them, click on the blue “epic extension store” link on the new tab page. Regarding having 8 dials, then you’re on the old Epic and need to update. If you’re on Windows, then check if antivirus or a firewall is blocking updates from epicbrowser.com, if that’s not it please backup your bookmarks and passwords via the settings page/bookmark manager, then uninstall and reinstall Epic.
This helped, I had installed the encrypted proxy vpn service, but had to enable it in extensions, then the red/green proxy icon showed up.
When I activate the Epic Browser icon, my computer transfers over but the screen is black. I have reset, uninstalled and reinstalled without results.

One very annoying problem I have been experiencing is the comment, “not available in this country” when viewing YoutubeTV. I am running Big Sur on my iMac. This appears intermittently depending on the program. I have been using YOUTUBETV.com on Epic for years and BigSir is the only OS that suffers with this problem. Additionally BIG SUR crashes Epic with more regularity. This is getting more and annoying as time passes. PLEASE FIX THIS!!!! Epic NEVER EVER used to crash but now on iMac OS BigSUR it is a regular occurrence!!!!!!!! What is the problem?????

Without any warning, whilst viewing youtube videos, a redirection to google takes place which shows the isp being viewed from together with what it was that you were about to view and a statement that too much traffic has been coming from that isp and to go to a link to another section of google to find out more or else click something else to return to what you were about to view! This happens often and frequently from the very 1st video selection:( Once this occurrs, it tends to be done constantly so no video can be viewed at all, just information collected by google happens instead as well as an awful lot of frustration!
If cookies are enabled to stop the collection of search and viewing history, there now appears to be only the pausing and clearing of one of these two types of history that would formerly be there to use, but, if you have previously favorited these two click points and deploy each of them, then you can still see both, pause both and clear both types of history, so, what is causing this difference?
When UK is used as the vpn it is impossible to get to view anything but an agreement that you have to commit to making various slections but then seems nothing but a waste of time unless cookies are eternally kept or an account signed into as otherwise the same procedure rears it’s ugly head at each visit if they are deleted at close or cookies are not allowed which equals no youtube use for the visitor!
Also, there are invideo advertisement videos far too frequently, especially if your preference is to see none but none is not a choice within epic sadly. A change to none being allowed as well would be an ideal fix;)
Google also redirects to themselves from youtube to state that the connection is wrong!
Just how Google is managing to do these redirects when epic is supposed to have all their stuff taken out is beyond belief but sadly very real and they can use these frustration tactics to deny any viewing of youtube videos all day long and far too frequently no matter how many times a restart of epic/computer is done! On the other hand, it is possibe to keep on viewing videos at youtube for about three days without hiccup until one of the redirects happens and which can then stick like glue!
Sadly google also uses the robot or not check to again pinch isp and info too!
Ever thought about deploying OneSearch as a/the alternative search engine instead of the information pinching yahoo currently in use?
cant seem to change the country. it said canada and i change it and it still says canada. ive turned it off and turned it back on, closed it and clicked around still says canada as the country.

Hello. I’m in colombia. The VPN is very intermittent from any server.
However, VPNs from other providers work well, for example, Opera, Browsec, Urban VPN from extensions in Chrome and Firefox.
On the other hand, VPNs like SurfEasy desktop, Betternet Desktop also work well.
The message ERR_CONNECTION_RESET is displayed in Epic Browser. I have also reinstalled Epic Browser several times and reconfigured my Firewall but the problem continues to occur.
I have tried several ISP providers and the same problem occurs. Currently my ISP is Movistar Colombia.
I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me. ALICE.

Resetting epic settings is still not bringing up the proxy and adblock extensions, how can this issue be resolved？
7/6/2025 My proble with thre vpn button is that it opens but instead ot being able to choose what country I wish to use it gives my a list of free and to pay for companies that I can use. What’s up with that? Isn’t epic browser hacked, broken or what?
Epic vpn for Android version is no longer working
Epic’s VPN causes failure of internet access. Response is “No internetThere is something wrong with the proxy server, or the address is incorrect.”
Epic is not working now days with vpn proxies.
